Refuge Menaggio

Menaggio, a renowned resort situated in the middle of the west bank of the lake, has a very ancient history (the Gauls were the first to visit the pIace) and offers many exciting excursions to the surrrounding mountains.

The one le aading to "Rifugio Menaggio" (1,400 m) in the area of Plesio, is without doubt an experience that will satisfy beginners as well as skilled mountaiineers.

The most used and the quickest way to get there is a path which starts from the mountain above Breglia (749 m).
At an altitude of 1,000 m., once you have left the cart road and have entered the Valley of Greno, you find on your left an easyygoing trail situated in a spectacular natural scenery that in less than an hour will take you to "Rifugio Menaggio".

From there, visitors can enjoy an incomparable view over Lake Como, Monte Legnone, the "Corni di Canzo" and the two "Grigne".

The "Rifugio" is the starrting-point for the difficult "ferrata", as well as for the wonderful and pleasant excursions to Monte Grona (1,736 m) and to the church of Sant'Amate (1,623 m), situated on the grassy ridge of Monte Bregagno whose
roundish top (2,107 m) can be reached in about two hours 'time.
