Pian Rancio - The Lentina Stone.

Sasso di Lentina - Pietra Lentina or Sasso di Lentina ( 940 m .) is a glacial granite erratic originating from Val Masino, transported and abandoned by the Quaternary glaciers upon their decrease, at 30 m. long, 10 m. wide and 9m. high, it is the most voluminous mass found in Lombardy, nearly 1500 m 2.

Pietra Lentina is found along the road which from Pian Rancio descends to Bellagio near the first curve, the Larian Triangle Comunità Montana (association of mountain municipalities) completed a rest area equipped with explanatory signs to aid the reader and describe the area.

The upper part of the Sasso di Lentina, the surface is flat, you can see small holes due to meteoric erosion, even if an ancient traditions believes that those holes are the sign of balls of fire launched above the rock by playful devils.
For many years the Pietra Lentina was also the border between the lands of Civenna and the Bellagio community, on the peak of the rock, among the various incisions, we can also note two angled lines, which marked the border - lines dating back to the year 1763.

Pietra Lentina is a true geological rarity, a must-see, with regard to nature and the places surrounding it.
