Il Lombardia History [1826/1900] [1900/1960] [1960/2000]

The 29 July 1826 from the beach of the Olmo, near Vico Village of Como, it comes launched, to hours 18,00, the steamboat Lario, fortified of Foulton machine Watt, to double effect, of the force of 12 horses, with hull in wood and propulsion to wheels.

After three travels for test, 16 August the Lario begins the daily race, on the line Como-Domaso. The 9 September 1826, to the 17,00 it comes launched, according to boat the Plinio, that enters in service the 1 November on the Lecco-Domaso line, beyond the tip of Bellagio the Lario and the Plinio are met for trasbordo of the passengers through passarelle.

In the 1835 steamboat Otello, till now used for the fluvial transports on the Pò it comes transferred on the Lake Como, on initiative of the propretario the Duca Carlo Visconti di Modrone. In this period navigation on the lake Como knows a good time and of remarkable development. After a period of societies disputes for the control of navigation on the lago, the fleet of the new Lariana in 1890 is composed from 14 steamboats and a tug. They are beautiful steamboats much, with elegant halls resturant service and is fast, many race interlacement on lake and in correspondence of the railway stations to Como, Lecco, Menaggio and Colico.
17 May 1892 [Il Plinio II], constructed from the Swiss company Escher-Wyss comes launched the steamboat, they will follow in the 1897 steamboat Brunate of 130 cv. for trasport of 75 persons, the Menaggio in the 1899 action to transport 100 passengers.
