Path and Excursions on the Grigna Mount

La Gardata 1040 mt.- Rifugio (Shelter) Elisa 1515 mt. Enjoyable crossing in an evocative environment – time needed: 1:45 to 2:15 .
Take the mule track which climbs behind the Gardata house and proceeds up a somewhat steep hill. The mule track then becomes a path and loses itself in a meadow.Here it turns right, and following a not-always-evident track, climbs diagonally through the meadow and reaches the peack which descends from the base of the imposing face of Sasso Cavallo.The path is recovered which crosses the Canalone di Val Cassina and meets track 16, which leads to Rifugio Elisa.

Departing from the left of Rifugio Elisa and with a level course crosses in altitutude the meadows overhung first by the Zucco dei Chignoli and then the imposing face of the Sasso dei Carbonari, it takes a left to a steep climb, following the indications and the signals of the Alta Via, and goes back for a long stretch to the border of the Canalone di Val Cassina.
It traverses on, to reach the bottom of the canalone (big canal), which passes the more difficult rock climbs with the help of chains and metal ladders.
It then arrives at the Bocchetta di Val Cassina or di Sengg, from which it begens to descend to the right along a ledge which can be friable in some places. It reaches the Vallone di Releccio and crosses at the Rifugio Bietti.

It is the oldest track to the Grignone from the Mandello slope and unwinds in an very evocative environment, in the presence of formidable mountain faces.
From Rifugio Elisa follow track n. 16 to the place called Piè dei Chignoli, where you take a left and go back across the grassy rib of the Chignoli.
Follow on through meadows and stone-covered hillsides and you will reach the Bocchetta della Bassa, where tracks n. 7 and n. 33 meet with then proceed to Rifugio Brioschi.
