Archaeological recoveries

The excavations conducted in 1914 on the island Comacina from the archaeologist Ugo Monneret brought the rests of the Romanesque basilica of Sant'Eufemia to the light. In 1958 a true Country of archaeological excavations was organized: this first cycle of searches directed by Mario Belloni, could be realized thanks to the intervention of the Superintendence to the Antiquities and to the personal interest of the Antiquities, Mirabella Roberti.
The results of the excavations didn't disappoint the expectation: from 1958 to 1959 they were brought the areas of three religious buildings to the light in three different points of the island: one near the actual oratory of St. Giovanni (St. Giovanni with baptistery), a second on a taller ledge along the back of the island (Saint Maria with the Portico) and a bystander on the superior pianoro toward Room, commonly says the Castle (St. Pietro in the Castle).
The second Country of excavations, directed by the Belloni it brought to the light in the 1962 bottom the floor of the actual oratory the rests of another Romanesque church.
