The castle of Vezio is open all the year, even if it is a private property.
Usually from April to the end of October every day from 10 am to sunset, and in winter only on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to sunset. In summer the castle is open until 12 pm.

The management of the castle is left to the association Friends of the Castle, a non profit corporation having a social utility, which is involved in its preservation, restoration and promotion of several events.
As you enter the walls surrounding the tower you will see the remains of this military fortress, which was used as sighting tower from the days of Queen Teodolinda.
The stonl flight of steps will let you go into the tower and reach its top through the drawbridge. From here the 360 view upon the lake of Como is without equal.
You can meet the Falconer of the castle, he wears contemporary dress and he will be glad to show you the birds of prey Iliving in the castle: barn owls, buzzards, hawks and others (the type of shown animals varies according to the periods).
At some hours (from 4 pm to 6 pm) you can admire astonishing flights and be protagonist in offering your arm to the birds of prey for a comtortable landing. Among the thirteen villages belonging to Perledo's municipality,the hamlet of Vezio is one of the most interesting under tourist and historical point of view.
It is a small group of stony houses and it has about fiftx inhabitants, that is twenty families.

It has kept its ancient features, and it hides a very long past among the restored buildings in the center Vezio' s inhabitants were probably a Ligurian-Celtic, perhaps even Etruscan, settlement, which was fought during the transmigrations by Transalpine populations.
