Crossing the Larian Triangle.

Time needed: 5-6 hours.
From Como to Brunate by cable railway. In Brunate follow the signs for the CAO rifugio (shelter), beyond which you climb to the Bondella and Boletto chateaus along the journey's most difficult but most panoramic track.
Between the spectacular beech tree forests and grassy slopes, leaving to the right, the Boletto peak (1236 m) you arrive at Bacchetta di Molina (1116 m). At the subsequent junctions, follow the indications for Monte Palanzone, which lead along the sentiero dei faggi (beech tree path) to the Bacchetta di Lemna and, from here, to rifugio Palanzone (or Riella , 1275 m): from the terrace of which you can see the Lake, Prealpi Luganesi and a the Rosa group.
Turning left at the stone monument and after some up and down climbs you reach the crest of Monte Croce (1351 m).
Coming down to the saddleback between Croce and Pianchetta from here, going both straight and to the left, to that below Monte Falo, where the path feeds into the dirt path for Colma del Piano and the Stoppani rifiugio (1124 m ; 19 km).
A path beyond the shelter climbs to the Alpe Spessola (1237 m), which precedes the tough climb to Monte Ponciv. Before reaching the peak, turn right to go to Pian Rancio, then left toward l'Alpe delle Ville from where you can climb to the Martina rifugio (shelter), catching the descending path on the right for Rovenzola, which flows into the dirt road for Rovenza. At the fountain with the signs for 1 and 4 go left to the small road the crosses the towns of Gravedona, Seller and Brogno, and reach Perlo where the you travel the asphalt road for Bellagio; from here you can return to Como by ferry.
